Roots
My family moved from Brigham City, UT, to Burnet, TX, in 1994. I attended Burnet Middle School and graduated from Burnet High School in 1999. In 2004, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Edward’s University where I was an 5 year St. Edwards Rugby Club Athlete. After spending two years pursuing career opportunities in Austin, TX, I returned home—Burnet will always be home.
As a long time resident of Burnet, I have lived in the Oaks addition neighborhood, Heritage Valley neighborhood, and now live south of the Historic Burnet Square. I ask these neighborhoods, and nearby neighborhoods, to allow me to be their voice at the City Council table.
Family
I married my beautiful wife in March 2020. She embodies integrity, love, wisdom, and kindness. We have two beautiful daughters: 2-1/2 years old and 7 month old. As a family, our goal is to model heaven on earth—being a light and presence of God wherever we go, living the Gospel of Christ in our daily lives to pave the way for His return.
Experience
This will be my third time running for a city government office. If elected, I will dedicate myself fully to serving the citizens of Burnet, Texas. I am committed to strengthening our community, supporting public services, improving infrastructure, and, most importantly, creating opportunities for the youth of Burnet. Throughout my term, I will remain accessible for questions and hold myself accountable to the highest standards of service.
In February 2014, I left my corporate job to become a self-employed contractor and business owner as a development broker, loan broker, and insurance producer. These roles helped me gain skills and adapt daily. Working with others was essential for overcoming challenges and reaching goals. Now my sole focus is to the best Broker Owner of our family company, Thess Mortgage. My career experiences have improved my leadership and accountability, aiding in my growth.
